Last post to play catch-up with! For the week of January 6th and January 13th the Hair of the Dog Blog theme was ‘Indoor’. Perfect choice seeing as temperatures were hovering around 0! The pups have been entertaining themselves indoors for much of the winter. We’ve all got a little bit of cabin fever!
You can see the top ten over in the Hair of the Dog Blog Indoor post! Stay tuned for the next challenge: ‘Big’.
To start of the new year, Hair of the Dog Blog‘s theme for the first week of January was ‘Best of 2013′. New Year’s is the perfect time for reflection on what you’ve done in the past year. Narrowing my choices down to just two was really difficult, but here they are!
The photo that came to my mind first was this one of my girl Corra. I love her expression, the geometric shapes on the ground, and my memory of just how difficult it was to get her to look up at me while it was raining.
I decided to round it out with a total of a top ten for 2013 – it took me a ridiculous amount of time to narrow it down to my top 30, never mind top ten! In no particular order …
Here’s hoping to a happy 2014 with lots of new faces! You can see the top ten in the Hair of the Dog Blog Best of 2013 post! Next up – ‘Indoor’ (last one to catch up with!)
For the week of December 16th the Hair of the Dog Blog theme was ‘Relax’. Here are some of my favorites!
Brave Black Dog Photography was selected to be among the top ten for this week! You can see the top ten in the Hair of the Dog Blog Relax post. Next up – Best of 2013!
Well, the Holidays have come and gone, but looking through these shots I took for the Hair of the Dog Blog challenge ‘Holiday’ back in early December, I got a couple of the warm fuzzies again :3 I love natural light and natural surroundings – so I wanted to do a Holiday shoot that had those elements. My solution? Steal ornaments off of our Christmas tree and find a small little fir tree out in the woods to decorate. So ‘small’ becomes surprisingly difficult to find – but I did my best! We ended up doing two shoots, since for the first one, it started snowing and there was a really strong wind that kept blowing the ornaments off the tree. The second shoot I didn’t have a whole lot of daylight left so it had to be quick! I still think they came out as I had hoped, I hope you like them too!
How cute are they in their scarves!? If you are still craving some of that past Holiday magic – check out the Hair of the Dog Blog Holiday post to see the top ten! Next stop on my catch-up train is ‘Relax’.
Moving right along here – for the week of December the second, the Hair of the Dog Blog theme was ‘Free’. I had a pretty specific image in mind of my girl Corra flying around like super-dog in a red cape. The shoot was very fun (though surprisingly cold!). The expressions she made as she zoomed around were adorable!
Running and jumping and being ‘Free’ of gravity also came to mind! Both my pups are pros at temporary freedom from the effects of gravity!
For this challenge, Brave Black Dog was selected as one of the top ten selections – you can see the top ten in the Hair of the Dog Blog Free post! Next up, as I catch up on challenges, will be ‘Holiday’.
For the last week of November 2013 the Hair of the Dog Blog challenge was ‘Macro’. Honing in on the details that make up our pets. I especially love noses and toesies :3
Please check out the top ten post in the Hair of the Dog Blog Macro post! Phew – two down, just a few more to go! Next up is ‘Free’.
Due to a whole host of reasons over the last couple of months, I have neglected this poor blog. I am going to rectify that and get back to my weekly posts. To start things off, way back in November, the week of the 11th, the Hair of the Dog Blog challenge for the week was ‘Dramatic Light’. Here were some of my favorites!
The submissions, as always, were wonderful and you can see the top ten in the Hair of the Dog Blog Dramatic Light post! The next challenge was ‘Macro’ which I will also post shortly. (Playing catch-up!)
For the week of October the 28th – Hair of the Dog Blog‘s weekly pet photography challenge was simply ‘Ball’. Out of my two pups, Loki could care less that balls even exist and Corra will forgo eating just so she can go git that ball! So, Loki’s uncooperative nature precluded him from this theme. Here are some of my favorites from that week (besides the one where Corra is on the dock, that was from our vacation this year!).
Head on over to the Hair of the Dog Blog Top Ten Ball post for some more Ball antics! The next theme is ‘Dramatic Light’ – I will put up a post for that challenge next week!
Last Saturday I had the opportunity to have a quick shoot with Jack and his best buddy Fenway over in North Reading, MA at the Ipswich River Park. It is a wonderful park and the grandkids that Jack an his wife Kathy were watching had an awesome time climbing all over the playground equipment while I stole away their Grampa and Fenway. Fenway is an adorable Lhaso Apso with a muppet hairdo. Just check out that face :3
You can tell just how much Fenway adores Jack – he did not want to be more than a few feet away from him at any given time!
Jack informed me that Fenway is very proud of his tail. If I had that tail, I would be too!
Jack even managed to get his little lap dog to romp around in the fast fading sunlight. Look at that happy face!
And not to be forgotten – the adorable 11 week old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppy Rudy also came along on our little park shoot. He was so cute, I wanted to stick him in my camera bag and take him home with me!
If you would like to go on a shoot with me – please contact me and we’ll set something up!
This past week’s pet photography challenge put on by the Hair of the Dog Blog was ‘Fall’, which just so happens to be my favorite season. The nice, cool weather, wearing sweaters, crisp apples, perfect walks through the changing woods, and all the yummy foods that come with Fall. Mostly it is all about the leaves however – here are my two pups enjoying Fall!
Check out the colorful picks over in the Hair of the Dog Blog Top Ten Fall post! Next week’s theme is ‘Ball’. You’ll be seeing a ball crazy dog here this time next week!
