*~ Bloopers! ~*

This past week’s pet photography challenge, put on by Hair of the Dog Blog, was bloopers. Between Loki and Corra, I probably have enough bloopers and outtakes to fill a book! Here are some of my favorites, I hope they bring you a chuckle :D

*~ Water ~*

A little late getting my ‘Water’ Hair of the Dog Blog‘s challenge up this week, but better late then never! Corra and Loki are polar opposites in most things, but nothing is more apparent than their love/hate of water. Corra will lie in a puddle at any time if given the chance. Loki, on the other hand, daintily walks around them, being very careful not to get any of his tootsies wet. Hopefully you can see from these photos Corra’s love of water! (And all poor Loki got this week was a bath!)

This was Corra’s first trip to the ocean as a puppy, and I just had to include it as an entry for this week.

*~ Man and Beast ~*

This past week’s theme from Hair of the Dog Blog, ‘Man and Beast’, featured my very patient husband with his two favorite four-leggers. Ahhh, my family – makes me squidgy just looking at these!

Next week’s theme is wet and wild – ‘Water’! I know one dog who is not going to enjoy this ;) Check back early next week for some wet pets!

*~ The Devil is in the Details ~*

This week’s pet photography challenge: ‘Details’ – brought to you by Hair of the Dog Blog! I really love zooming in on my dogs and seeing them in a different way. Yet, through it all, I still know it is them. A little spot on one of Corra’s paws, I can ‘feel’ Loki just with his eye, or remember how their soft fur feels when that is all I am seeing. Here are some of my favorite Detail shots from this past week.

*~ Eat! ~*

Time for this week’s installment of my take on last week’s Hair of the Dog Blog‘s Pet Photography Challenge: Eat! Definitely my dogs’ favorite challenge yet – engaging in their favorite activity, eating! Loki and Corra both eat a raw diet, however I always portion it out for them (much to their chagrin). But for a special photo shoot, I let them have at an entire chicken. Well okay, I didn’t let them finish it, that is like 4x what they get on any given day! If you don’t like seeing a chicken carcass eaten by cute doggies, look away now!

*~ Playtime ~*

This week’s installment of my take on Hair of the Dog Blog‘s challenge: Playtime! Loki and Corra were my two very accommodating (and patient!) models. We all had fun this week :D (okay, I cheated and there are two photos from the week up in Maine too, but I just loved them so much!)

*~ Silhouette ~*

I once again took up the Hair of the Dog Blog‘s pet photography challenge for this past week – Silhouette. Since I tend to mostly use natural light and the window for getting great silhouette shots with natural light is very small (during sun rise and sun set) – I haven’t had a whole lot of practice with this technique. I learned a lot this week and found a couple of new spots to do some shoots. For your perusal, my favorites from this week!

*~ Shallow Depth of Field ~*

This past week’s Hair of the Dog Blog‘s pet photography challenge was ‘Shallow Depth of Field’. For anyone who doesn’t know what that means, basically, Depth of Field (DOF) is the area of a photograph that is acceptably perceived by the viewer as sharp. In the case of a shallow DOF, the sharply focused area is small and the background and/or foreground will appear as blurry. Phew! I really enjoyed this challenge (as I always seem to!) – here are some of my favorites from the week.

*~ Action ~*

Last week’s pet photography challenge from Hair of the Dog Blog was ‘Action’. I have to say, I was very excited by this challenge, since I absolutely love capturing my dogs in motion! The weather however, was less than stellar for that whole week, and you really need lots of light for those high shutter speeds. I still managed to freeze Loki and Corra doing their favorite things – running and jumping! Brave Black Dog and family also headed up to the cold, rocky shores of Maine on Saturday, and are still here for a matter of fact! I hope you enjoy the beach photos as well – thinking warm thoughts to push away the last dregs of winter!
